This is my second selection of outstanding legislators, these serving during the 2010 Session. For readers, especially new to this Blog, I try to identify lawmakers who remind me of the truly outstanding members that served during the Golden Era of Florida politics, as identified in my book, The Golden Years…The Florida Legislature, ’70s and ’80s. This year I select two members that distinguish themselves by their outstanding potential:
Rep. Eric Eisenaugle (R., Orlando). Freshman member of the House, Conservative, Attorney and graduate of Vanderbilt law school, bright and not afraid to debate. Full disclosure here: He went to school with my son and I went to school with his father.
Rep. Dwight Bullard (D., Miami). Freshman member of the House, a full time teacher with a working knowledge of education issues (unusual for legislator educators). Mother and father served in the Legislature during the same time frame. Good debater and unflappable when the party in power attempts to obstruct his legislation.
Unless I am wrong, these are two political stars of the future.
