    Scott's Feuds

Post # 67, Bob McKnight's Subscription Commentary "When ignored, Scott is like a child scorned." Florida Republican Party Official In Tallahassee, it is pretty well known that Rick Scott is not liked by many Republican office holders. It was most evident during the 2018 election, when he barely squeaked past incumbent Senator Bill Nelson to win the Junior Senator seat for Florida. Scott found himself on the outs with the Party establishment after a number of incidents: Scot

    Trump 2020

Post # 62, Bob McKnight's Subscription Commentary ...he is clever and has an amazing sense of people's inherent evil thoughts... Critics of President Donald Trump say his thinking is shallow with limited intellectual curiosity. His acknowledged failure to read, especially issue reports completed by his staff, does not help his reputation as being overly impetuous. Somehow he may be one of only a few that feel his constant disconnected tweets are in keeping for the Presiden

    Pelosi

Post #29, Bob McKnight's Subscription Commentary "Do the Democrats relish a fight more than a victory?" Political stupidity often has no discerning boundaries. On the Republican side, virtually every conservative I know has said that if President Donald Trump would just stop using social media to spout off and lie, his record would begin getting some respect. That may be a little farther than I would go, but it sure makes sense when you look at the stock market or a few of

    Why They Do It

Post #8, Bob McKnight's Subscription Commentary "Because I Could." Former President Bill Clinton Former President Bill Clinton was once asked directly, "Why did you get involved with a White House Intern?" His answer was revealing, "Because I could." Privilege has benefits. The Clintons are not alone. President Donald Trump promised to reveal his taxes, denies profiting off the Presidency, and said he never met Putin. All are lies, probably because he feels he can. He br

    A Republican Gift...NOT.

BREAKING NEWS, JUNE 21, 2018: Just as discussed below in item #3, last night the Republican controlled Senate failed to pass the $15 Billion "Claw Back" Rescission Bill. These are unspent dollars that could go to reducing our dangerous deficit. Two Republican Senators were responsible for this hypocrisy--Susan Collins of Maine and Richard Burr of North Carolina. The time window to pass this budget cut expires tomorrow. No wonder the call for Congressional Term Limits. Po

    Justice Moves Slowly, But....

It is said that 'Justice Moves Slowly.' But in the case of litigation against President Trump, it appears today that Justice is coming to a head in three different cases. Keep in mind, this is over and above the mega litigation of Special Counsel Robert Mueller on behalf of the Department of Justice. The DOJ cases are: 1) Money Laundering, Bank Fraud, and Campaign Violations, 2) Collusion with the Russians, and 3)Obstruction of Justice. There are no time lines on these

Trump and Clinton Have This in Common

"For Both of Them, It is Always Someone Else." In the same day, I heard both President Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton do the same thing. They both blamed anyone but themselves for their failures. In Trump's case, after personally campaigning in Pennsylvania for the Republican candidate (and raving about his attributes) in a district that Trump won by 20 points 2 years ago, Trump blamed the apparent loss on the candidate. This is not the first tim

    Mr. President...Huh?

'Trump fires Bannon...Bannon pledges support to Trump...Bannon bashes Trump Team, including Family...Trump says nothing. Huh?' Sometimes it just seems impossible to make sense of everything going on in this political world. Look at our President Donald Trump and his former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon. Bannon ran Trump's successful campaign briefly and just after the Inauguration, Trump made the unprecedented appointment of Bannon as a part of the sensitive Na

    A Plan for the Democrats

"Let's Think First This Time. Then, Get to Work." How many times have you heard partisan politicos being criticized, saying, "Fine, what is your plan?" The Democrats and some traditional Republicans have criticized President Donald Trump for his lack of legislative accomplishment, for what seems like decades. Critics say he did not start with a "plan." Those very same critics have offered very few solutions of their own. Even on Obama Care, the opponents know Trump has f

    Putin Again?

In my opinion, other than President Donald Trump, virtually all people in U. S. political power acknowledge that the Russians interfered in our 2016 Presidential Election. For those that voted for Trump, a large number of them seem to be very pleased with our country today. I believe they cringe with some of his antics, but for the most part, they feel he has pulled the rug out from under the political establishment. They seem to feel anything is better than what we have h

    The Price of Lies

One of the few things upon which there is near agreement in this country is that President Donald Trump lies. A lot. Make that almost always. There is a price tag for lies. Remember as a kid, your Mom said, "If you lie, then later when you tell the truth, people won't believe you." We saw that in Trump's remark about "Fire and Fury" against North Korea recently, with the exclusion of negotiations. In many newspapers, his rant was carried under the fold with the lead of

    Bad Optics

For the second time, President Donald Trump had Republican members of Congress bused to the White House for a photo opportunity with him in the Rose Garden. This time it was a celebration of the House passing a bill designed to replace Obama Care with Trump Care. It was a surprise victory after several false starts by Speaker Paul Ryan (R., Wi.), although passing by only 4 votes among the 435 members of the House. But, the passage was a major achievement for the President

    The Syria Attack

With the swirling events in the World, I am often asked by friends and readers to help sift through the noise to establish an opinion of a new development. The surprise attack against Syria by President Donald Trump Friday night is one such example. Although the President indicated in advance his shock at the pictures of "beautiful Syrian babies" being gassed by their own President, his decision to strike Syria was still a surprise to most. As a matter of fact, even thoug

    Devil's Advocate

As readers of this Commentary are aware, I was very disappointed with the two major candidates for President this year. I was probably more critical of Donald Trump, primarily because so many of his actions bordered on being over the top. I felt his behavior threatened the dignity of the office, especially in world affairs. But Trump won, and as he has requested, Americans need to come together in support of him. So, in that vein, I would like to play Devil's Advocate and
