During the '70's and '80's, the reporters were an integral part of the legislative process--most of them knew the legislators, family and staff. There was no social media, so relationships were the currency for good reporting. As I said in a previous Quorum Call, shown below, one of the best was television reporter Ray Starr. Ray and his partner Mark Ivester roamed the halls for many years with those relationships solidly in tact.
