One of the most recognized members of both the Florida House of Representatives and the Senate was Miami Senator Ken Myers (D., Miami). He was from one of Miami's most prominent families, then taking his law degree at the University of Florida while earning his Phi Beta Kappa key. As the article below points out, the Senator was known for championing some of Florida's most significant legislation affecting social services, the elderly and children. I had the pleasure of serving with Ken and can say he also had a rapier like mind. He died of a freak accident several years ago, but his record of distinction is certainly in tact.
