Post # 126, Bob McKnight's Florida Commentary
Readers of my Commentary know that I have been very critical of our Senior Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) since his election in 2010. I heard of his reputation of a lack of integrity while serving in the Florida House of Representatives, and I have been disgusted with his lack of standing up for Florida's interests against the Trump Administration.
So when I saw his publishing of a picture of himself with the late Congressman Elijah Cummings (D., Maryland) for what was intended to be a picture of himself with the just passed Congressman John Lewis (D., Georgia), I felt further further disgust. But after thinking about it, I admit to mixing up the two outstanding congressman myself. Then I saw that Congressman's Cummings' widow, Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings said the Senator should be excused for the mistake because many people have done the same thing. In truth, the two Congressman are very similar in appearance.
Notice the class and courtesy shown by Dr. Cummings. Wouldn't it be nice if all of us learned from this--yes, including me--to start practicing a little more respect and forgiveness for one another? I suggest such compassion should start with the President, his Administration, our Governor, and yes, each of us. Thank you Dr. Cummings.
