Trump Probably Wishes He Had Kept Biden as His Opponent

Post # 340, Bob McKnight's Florida Commentary

Trump went from being the leader against Biden to now facing Vice President Kamala Harris, who is everything he isn't. That looks like trouble for the convicted former President.

Donald Trump is said to be street-smart. He brags that he knows how to fight and usually wins. But he is also known as a liar and a bully. He is easily angered and has a renowned temper. So when President Joe Biden won the 2020 election, Trump fumed and fussed with anybody who would listen. January 6th attack on our Capitol showed that a large part of our frustrated country fussed and fumed with him. It did them no good.

When the 2024 election campaign started earlier this year, Trump was eager to attack Biden with vengeance. He called the President, his family, and his Administration every name he could imagine. Trump sensed that Biden was vulnerable with his age taking an obvious toll. In their only debate, Trump dominated Biden not on debating, but out of what appeared to be Biden fatigue. Trump acted like he wanted to beat Biden so badly, that his objective looked like it was for the elimination of his opponent. Be careful what you want Donald, you might just get it.

Biden is now out of the 2024 presidential election. Vice President Kamala Harris is now Trump's opponent. She is everything Biden is not--a woman with parents from Africa and India, a seasoned and experienced prosecutor, and a proven campaigner. Uh, oh, Donald.

Maybe it would have been better for Trump to do everything he could to keep Joe Biden as his opponent. But that is reasoning that flies in the face of a bully looking for what he thinks will be an easy fight. Now Trump carries his baggage of being a convicted felon facing numerous new trials, no campaign platform, a weird running mate, a badly fragmented political party, little momentum, and support from an embarrassing GOP congressional delegation.

Conversely, the Democrats appear to be united, well-financed, and sharply focused on the issues of abortion, freedom, diversity, and an economy that starts with the middle class.

Former President Trump probably wishes he could have kept his old opponent because his prospects for election are not good.
