With COVID-19, We Should Cancel Wars

Post # 109, Bob McKnight's Florida Commentary

By most accounts, the U.S. Military is in active combat in the following countries:

  • Iraq

  • Afghanistan

  • Syria

  • Yeman

It is not clear just how many of our troops are in harm's way in those countries. But it is safe to assume it is in the multiple thousands.

Since all the world has declared social distancing the universal policy to avoid the COVID-19 virus, it just seems logical that cancelling all wars would make sense. If we are going to all this trouble, time and money to save lives around the world from this deadly disease, why would we spend the same time, money, and human life to turn around in war and kill one another?

I realize my suggestion will be ignored as far fetched and naive. Is it really?
